I spent a full month living in Da Nang, and lucky for me, My Khe Beach was just a 10-minute walk from my apartment.
It quickly became part of my daily routine: morning runs, sunset strolls, and late-night people-watching along the lively boardwalk.
It’s also where I ran the Da Nang 5K road race, surrounded by ocean views and cheering locals.
If you love the energy of a city but crave the calm of the beach, Da Nang gives you both in one place!
Key Takeaways:
- City Meets Sea: My Khe Beach is clean, free, and just minutes from downtown Da Nang.
- Active and Relaxing: Locals work out in the mornings, and visitors enjoy peaceful sunset walks.
- Amenities Available: The beach has lifeguards, restrooms, showers, and cheap chair rentals.

My Khe Beach: Long, Clean, and Free
My Khe is the most popular Da Nang beach for good reason – it has a boardwalk, clean sand, bathrooms, and plenty of places to eat.
You’ll never feel crowded. Even on weekends, it’s easy to find your own peaceful spot with just the sound of waves.
Access is totally free. No entrance fee, no wristbands, no hassle. Just walk across the street and step onto the sand.
You’ll see many locals early in the morning (before 7 AM) doing group workouts, stretching, and enjoying the cool air.
After 5 PM, the scene comes alive again as the sun drops and the heat fades.

Where to Eat and Drink on this Da Nang Beach
There are rotating food stalls and casual beach bars scattered along My Khe Beach. Most spots serve OK food—nothing fancy, but for a free beach, it does the job.
Here are your options on My Khe Beach:

Street Food & Local Eateries
You can enjoy local dishes like bánh mì, mì Quảng, or bún chả cá for around 30,000–70,000 VND ($1.20–$2.80 USD) at one of the rotating food trucks.
Mid-Range Restaurants
Casual sit-down restaurants and beachfront cafes offer meals ranging from 100,000–300,000 VND ($4–$12 USD) per person.

Seafood & Upscale Dining
For a more upscale experience, seafood restaurants such as 4U Seafood Restaurant or Ngoc Huong Seafood Restaurant offer dishes priced between 150,000–800,000 VND ($6–$32 USD), depending on the type and weight of the seafood.
Beverages
A local beer typically costs 20,000–40,000 VND ($0.80–$1.60 USD), while a cappuccino or smoothie ranges from 40,000–70,000 VND ($1.60–$2.80 USD).

My two favorite places were on the Northern End of the beach. After a day in the sun, both places were modern places to grab food and drink.
Esco Beach Bar and Restaurant is a spacious beachfront spot with a chill vibe and a solid mix of Vietnamese and Western dishes. The night I visited, they had craft beers on tap, as well as a fire show.
Next door, you’ll find East West Brewing Co., a rooftop craft beer bar with some of the best views of the beach.
Vietnam Tips
- Water Safety: Tap water is not safe to drink. Opt for bottled water. Some venues will offer filtered water for free.

- Dress Modestly in Temples: Do not show your shoulders or knees at places of worship.
- Bathroom Etiquette: Do NOT put toilet paper in the toilet! Most venues do offer tissues and trash cans as needed.
- Food Etiquette: Food comes out fast but not always at the same time.
- Tipping Etiquette: It is not expected however it is typical to round up the bill as a tip.
How to Get to My Khe Beach
You can easily walk to Da Nang Beach if you’re staying near the city center. Grab rides are quick and cheap, and scooters or bikes give you extra freedom to explore.
Parking is available if you’re riding in, and it is free. However you get there, you’ll be on the sand in 10 to 15 minutes.

What’s the Weather Like in Da Nang?
This city has a tropical monsoon climate. That means hot summers and mild winters.
- Dry season: Typically, February to August is the best time to visit, especially April to May. Expect blue skies, warm days, and cooler nights in the first few months.
- Rainy season: September to January can be hit or miss with heavy showers. October often gets typhoons.
I visited in March, and unfortunately, it was cloudy and grey most of the days, except the day I went to Ba Na Hills. Pack a light jacket and at least one pair of pants, as it was chilly at night in March.

Things to Do at the Beach
There’s plenty to do along My Khe Beach, as not only is there a wide sandy beach, but also a paved boardwalk to walk on.
Surfing is available in the right season, and you can rent a board or join a quick lesson right on the sand.
Locals head out early to use the free public exercise stations, while others jog, walk, or simply people-watch along the wide beachfront path.
You can bring alcohol, but don’t bring glass bottles and avoid leaving trash behind.
You’ll find movie nights on weekends—look for posters near Esco or ask the staff. There’s no fixed schedule, but they happen fairly often.

Where to Stay Near My Khe Da Nang Beach
There’s no shortage of options, whether you want something sleek or budget-friendly. Since I was in Da Nang for a month, I opted for a hotel with a kitchen and free laundry, the Hem Hotel.
Many resort hotels face the beach, but I did notice a lot of tour groups stayed there, so they may not be as quiet if you are on vacation.
Here are some other options of places that I visited for either a drink or dinner that didn’t have busy lobbies.
TMS Hotel Da Nang Beach: Right across from the sand, with big rooms and beautiful views.
Four Points by Sheraton: A reliable high-end pick with a rooftop bar and pool.
Rom Casa Hostel: Made from shipping containers, which is pretty cool, and is perfect for backpackers or solo travelers.
You’ll find everything from five-star resorts to dorm rooms—all within a few blocks of this Da Nang beach.
