A city break is a short holiday spent in a major city. What Americans would call ” spending a few days in the city”. Most people see a vacation or holiday as spending time on a beach, however, a city break can also provide an amazing experience.

From a short 24-hour stay to a few days, a city break can be immersive. The culture, the vibes, the fun, and the scenery. If you are on the fence when it comes to a city break, then here are five cities that will change your mind.

New York City is one of the top options for a quick city break. This is the Big Apple, the place where all the action takes place. From shopping to sightseeing, there is something for everyone.

Take a trip to the top of the Empire State Building, stroll around Central Park, see a show on Broadway, or head to Time Square. New York City is the city that never sleeps, and is a great place to reignite your passion for city breaks.

European Cities to Experience a City Break

The city of fashion and romance. Paris, in France, will sit on many people’s bucket lists as a dream destination. They want to be kissed at the top of the Eiffel Tower. Or have the ultimate shopping trip in the designer boutiques. Perhaps cruise on the River Seine or eat fabulous French food in some of the top Michelin-starred restaurants. Sound familiar?

Paris, however, isn’t too far at all to travel from the UK. With a short train journey and an even shorter plane ride, you could be there within the hour for a quick city break. Which makes it a perfect weekend destination. Paris has easy public transport links, so all the top sites are easily accessible. Plan your weekend right, and you could be ticking Paris off your bucket list. 

Prague

Known for its old town square and charm, Prague is one destination people want to visit at least once. If it’s not for the sights, then you may go to experience the food and the beer. The beer specifically is known for being the best in Europe.

There is only one way to find that out for sure, isn’t there? Prague can easily be seen in one weekend for a city break. It is a couple of hours away on a plane and has excellent transport links to get you to all the places you want to see.

Asian Cities for a City Break

While it may seem like a faraway destination for a city break, Singapore may surprise you. With a direct link and a big international airport, it may not be as bad to get there as you expect. Plus once you get there, you could be in the thick of the action before you know it.

Take in the scenery in the Singapore Botanic Gardens, or sample the high-tech sights at the Gardens by the Bay. There is plenty to see and do in this city and it could be a city break to remember. 

Dubai

Why not consider the bustling city of Dubai as a city with a difference? This destination has the best of both worlds. Fantastic weather accompanied by white sandy beaches and a vibrant city life, there isn’t much you can’t love about it.

There are some iconic places to stay and sights to see. It’s possible to fill your time with lots of great attractions. What it is well-known for, though, is the shopping. There is a great selection of luxury shops and designers in the expansive malls.
