5 Ways to Get to the Beach Clubs in Canggu (With Insider Tips You Need to Know)

Canggu Bali is famous for its legendary beach clubs. If you’re visiting this part of the island, hitting up at least one of these spots is practically a rite of passage.

When I visited for a month, I was able to visit three of the clubs in one day. Since the weather was hit or miss, I didn’t have the luxury of going whenever I wanted.

Since traffic is atrocious, I put together a guide on how to get to the beach clubs in Canggu so you can decide ahead of time how to get to each one.

Here is how to get to the beach clubs in Canggu Bali, during your next visit!

5 Transportation Options for Getting to Beach Clubs in Canggu

How you get there will depend on which part of Canggu you decide to stay.

I walked to Finns, Atlas, and the Lawn all in one day, as the traffic was unbearable. It took 25 minutes from my apartment to Finn’s and then another 15 minutes to the Lawn.

You can walk on the beach from Finn’s to Atlas, and then to the Lawn. Google Maps will say that you can’t, but you can. You just need to walk through a little bit of water as you get closer to Old Man’s. Check out my guide to the beach before you head to Canggu.

Here are the five ways to get there, with pros and cons.

1. Free Shuttle (Only Two of the Bars)

FINNS provides a complimentary hop-on, hop-off shuttle service called the “FINNS Loop.” This shuttle operates daily from 7:00 AM to midnight, with pickups approximately every 20 minutes.

Atlas Beach Club offers a free shuttle service that operates around the Berawa, Canggu, and Tibubeneng areas.

Tip: For clubs offering shuttle services, it’s recommended to check their official websites or contact them directly for the most up-to-date schedules and pickup locations.

Bali Weather

  • Dry Season: May to September
  • Rainy Season: October to April
  • High Humidity: High humidity year-round, especially during the rainy season.
  • Temperature: 80°F to 90°F (27°C to 32°C) throughout the year.

2. Walking

If you’re staying near Batu Bolong or Echo Beach, walking might seem like the easiest option.

Keep in mind that sidewalks are almost non-existent, and when they do appear, they’re often broken, filled with drainage holes, or completely taken over by scooters.

Yes, scooters actually ride on sidewalks here. You’ll need to stay alert and watch your step at all times.

  • Free and easy if you’re staying very close to the club.
  • No need to deal with parking or traffic.
  • Almost no sidewalks make it dangerous and uncomfortable.
  • Drainage holes and obstacles make it tricky to navigate.
  • You’ll arrive sweaty, especially in Bali’s heat and humidity.

3. Order a Grab or Gojek Scooter

The fastest way to reach any of the beach clubs in Canggu is by booking a scooter ride through the Grab or Gojek app.

They offer both regular and XL bike options, which means you can ride solo or with a friend on the back.

Most drivers will provide helmets, but sometimes they’re not in the best condition. I’ve had drivers show up with helmets that had no working straps. Still, this is the go-to option if you want to beat traffic and arrive quickly.

Pro Tip:

Download Grab (All apps) or Gojek (iOS and Android) to use throughout Bali and other Asian countries.

  • Very affordable, typically costing between $1 and $3 USD.
  • Fast and efficient, even during busy hours.
  • No parking hassles or long waiting times.
  • You’re trusting the driver with your safety in heavy traffic.
  • Helmet quality can be hit or miss.
  • Not great if you’re wearing a dress or carrying bags.

Pro Tip for Traveling to Bali

Several documents and fees are required before entering Bali. Make sure you take care of them before arrival to skip several lines at the airport.

In addition to the visa, you need to fill out a Health Pass, Customs Declaration, and pay the Love Bali tax.

4. Order a Private Car

If scooters make you nervous, you can always order a car through Grab or Gojek.

It’s a lot more comfortable and comes with air conditioning. However, Canggu’s traffic can be painfully slow, especially around sunset or on weekends.

A ride that should take ten minutes could easily turn into a thirty-minute ordeal. Also, drop-off points are sometimes located a few minutes away from the actual entrance of the beach club, especially if the roads are congested.

  • Comfortable and air-conditioned, great if you’re dressed up.
  • Ideal for groups or those carrying bags.
  • No need to rent or navigate traffic yourself.
  • Traffic is almost always bad in Canggu.
  • Rides can be more expensive, around $6 to $10 USD for short distances.
  • Drop-off points may not be right at the club entrance.

Travel Insurance

I suggest using Safety Wing for travel insurance when traveling abroad. Don’t get in a scooter accident without it!

5. Renting and Driving Your Own Scooter

Daily rentals are cheap, usually around $5 to $8 USD per day, and you won’t have to wait for drivers or deal with app delays.

But here’s the reality—driving in Canggu is not for the faint of heart. Scooters ride inches apart, cars squeeze through tiny gaps, and the rules of the road are loosely followed.

You’ll need a valid international driver’s license, and you must wear a helmet at all times.

  • Complete freedom to move around on your own schedule.
  • Affordable daily rental rates.
  • Traffic can be overwhelming and dangerous.
  • Parking is limited and often chaotic at busy clubs.
  • Safety risks if you’re not an experienced rider.

Five Beach Clubs in Canggu You Shouldn’t Miss

Here are five of the best beach clubs in Canggu. I put together a short list of each venue so you can decide which ones to go to.

Personally, I liked Finn’s the best at night. There were no children running around (like at Atlas), and it was a true party scene. The Lawn, Las Brisa, and COMO were all more laid back.
