Morocco Packing List: 10 Necessary Items

This post details 10 essential items for your Morocco packing list. These items will help you while you stay in the desert, survive daily walks through the cities, and drive around the country.  These items were used during a 10-day trip to Morocco, you can see the path I took here.

Morocco Packing List: Daily Use

Water Bottle

The Stanley H20 Flowstate Tumbler keeps water cold for over 24 hours. The rotating lid with angled handle makes drinking your ice-cold water a few light twists away. The elevated Cap and Carry Lid also features a soft-touch comfort grip for transport on long walks or a day out exploring a bucket list city. It is my go-to bottle for every adventure.

Day Pack

This Sherpani Day Pack is perfect for Morocco as it only has one strap, instead of two, keeping your back cool. And it allows you to swing the bag around to the front of your chest. There are just enough compartments to hold everything from your camera to your water bottle, to any items you need for daily use.

Tissues

Seriously, bring them everywhere you go. Not all restaurants or even hotels will provide toilet paper. This tissue travel pack folds easily or you can squish them into the bottom of your bag. You can use it as a napkin when eating, to wipe your eyes of sand, or in the bathroom.

Morocco Packing List: For the Desert

Scarf

This scarf will keep sand out of your mouth when riding the camels or if a sand storm comes through. It comes as one size fits all and you can wrap it in a few different ways. This is the scarf that my friends wore. Make sure to get this sturdy scarf and not like the one I have in the image above, it was too loose and kept flying off!

Harem Pant

You will see a lot of harem style pants for sale in Morocco for cheaper prices however some are not made well. I bought one and the band broke on the second day.

I suggest buying them in advance, they will be worn a lot, especially by the ladies as they need to keep their legs covered, even in 105-degree heat. These pants help your legs stay cool by allowing air to flow through.

Sunscreen

You’d be surprised how many people forget to pack sunscreen. You must protect your skin especially when you are in the desert. There is no shade to hide from the sun. This size bottle packs easily and is TSA friendly and isn’t greasy.

Hand Sanitizer

Just like sunscreen, you need hand sanitizer. Most bathrooms will not have running water or soap or towels to clean your hands. Don’t just bring one, bring a few, you will be sure to use them. I like the individual packets as I can store them in different parts of my bag and no risk of it leaking.

Dude Wipes

These wipes are not just for men! You can use them to wipe your hands, face, and body as it can get pretty grimy in some of the cities. They also cool off the skin!

Plastic Shower Caps

Not for showering actually. These caps come in handy for keeping sand off your camera or smartphone while taking pictures. Plus you will have extra to share with fellow travelers and make new friends in the process.

Cleaning Cloths

Also for keeping sand off your camera, these glass wipes come in handy to keep your lens clean which is super important as you will want to take a TON of photos in Morocco!

I hope this list helps you to remember the important items when planning your trip to Moroccan cities and the Sahara Desert.
